Pray with Godly fear

Hebrews 5:7

He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear.

During his time on earth, Jesus prayed with strong crying and tears, which, living in today’s world, most of us have done, more than we would like, but praying with strong crying and tears explained how he prayed, the next part of the verse explains why God heard his prayers.

“And having been heard for his godly fear.”

God heard his prayer because of his godly fear.

How did Christ express this godly fear to the one who could save his life?

“Thou kingdom come, thou will be done.” Matthew 6:9-10

When you pray, realize that you are not to pray with the heart of the person you used to be, the one who did all of those terrible things.

The person you used to be is gone, nailed to the cross with Christ.

Instead, when you pray, pray with the new heart that God himself has created in you.

Your new heart does not want your will done in your life, it knows better, your will is the absolute last thing your new heart wants.

Instead your new heart wants God’s will done in your life, and everyone else’s.

So the first condition to answered prayer is to not pray for what you want God to give you, but to pray for what God already wants to give you. 

Study the bible until you understand what God’s will is for your life, and pray for his kingdom to come, and his will to be done.
