L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude Eyeshadow Palette Swatches and Review

L’Oréal Paris La Palette Nude eyeshadow palettes are two sets of 10 neutral shadows that come in Rose and Beige, and I’ve totally fallen in love with them. These drugstore palettes have the same the universally useful neutral colour scheme of Urban Decay’s Naked line, but present them at a more budget-friendly price point. They also lean towards away from the heavy shimmer that made some of the Naked shadows a bit too much for everyday wear. These palettes were released last year in the US, but they’ve updated some shades and changed the packaging.

Here are the shades – these swatches are with primer.

The pigmentation is pretty good with primer, but it’s not as intense as Urban Decay. This is both good and bad – bad if you like intense colour, but good if you’re in a rush and have no time to deal with fallout or mistakes, or if you just want a subtle, work-friendly look. They apply smoothly and blend out pretty well, and last a full day without fading much if you use primer.

The packaging is gorgeous. They’ve updated it since it was launched in the US, where there was a clear window, but now they’re in a sleek black container that’s almost 100% identical to the Yves Saint Laurent Couture Variation palettes. They contain a full size mirror.

The only real disappointment here is the brush, which to be honest is pretty good for a drugstore brush and will do fine in a pinch. It’s got the usual sponge applicator on one end, but a proper brush on the other! The other tiny thing I’m annoyed with is the lack of shade names. I realise that in a large company like L’Oréal it probably takes 4 months and 30 focus groups to come up with a single shade name, but it would make it so much easier to talk about!
