IT Cosmetics has landed with Sephora in Australia recently, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by their base make-up products. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream is the product that got me researching snail slime science recently.

It’s not actually the first snail slime product I’ve tried – that was actually a tiny sachet of Skin79 Snail Nutrition BB Cream. At the time, I assumed that the strong fragrance was necessary to cover up the scent of snail secretion, but since then I’ve come across unscented Mizon and Benton products in my travels through the blogosphere.

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream is much less strongly fragranced, though it does have a citrus scent. It’s a medium coverage foundation-like product – I’m not really seeing any colour correction in this CC cream, but I don’t mind, because I really don’t need my entire face’s colour corrected and I don’t think most people do either! It applies easily with your fingers or with a sponge or brush, and blends in easily. I’ve seen some people say that this doesn’t work that well for oily skin, but with a bit of powder I found that it works quite well, and doesn’t wear off throughout the day.

Like most CC and BB creams, Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream contains a bunch of fancy ingredients (peptides, niacin, vitamins A, C, B, and E, soybean extract, turmeric extract, colloidal oatmeal, chrysin), but since there’s so many of them in there and their concentrations aren’t listed, it’s hard to say whether they’ll do much. More importantly, it’s got tons of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as physical sunscreens, giving it a final SPF of 50+ (unknown UVA protection). Unfortunately for people with sensitive skin, it does contain citrus and eucalyptus oils, which can be irritating if your skin is sensitive.

Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide (9.015%), Zinc Oxide (6.305%); Inactive Ingredients: Water, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Magnesium Sulfate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Aluminum Hydroxide, Hexyl Laurate, Stearic Acid, Calcium Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Disodium EDTA, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Niacinamide, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Water, Lactobacillus/Honeysuckle Flower/Licorice Root/Morus Alba Root/Pueraria Lobata Root/Schizandra Chinensis Fruit/Scutellaria Baicalensis Root/Sophora Japonica Flower Extract Ferment Filtrate, Perfluorohexane, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Cholesteryl Isostearate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chrysanthemum Indicum Flower Extract, Cholesteryl Nonanoate, Cholesteryl Chloride, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Perfluorodecalin, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Magnolia Kobus Bark Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sprout Extract, Diospyros Kaki Leaf Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Pentafluoropropane, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Steareth-20, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Colloidal Oatmeal, Hydrolyzed Silk, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Silica, BHT, Potassium Sorbate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Tocopherol, Thiamine HCl, Riboflavin, Retinyl Palmitate, Pantothenic Acid, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Niacin, Folic Acid, Chrysin, Carnitine HCl, Biotin, Ascorbic Acid, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Chlorhexidine Digluconate. May Contain: Red 7 Lake, Iron Oxides.

Overall, I really like this – it’s actually the first CC cream I’ve really liked, and have kept wearing after road testing! I think it’s because it doesn’t try to “colour correct”, so it doesn’t have a weird tinge. If I tried this out without knowing what it was, I wouldn’t pick it as a CC cream. It just goes to show – ignore the marketing, use what works!

  1. Do you think the citrus and eucalyptus oils may cause dryness? I just started testing it and my skin gets dry and flaky in certain areas during the day (which is weird bc I’m really really oily). I can’t figure out if this is the cause or if something else going on!

    • That could be it, but it might be something higher in the ingredients list – maybe the butylene glycol (penetration enhancer, could be dehydrating your skin), or the high amount of physical sunscreen ingredients, or simply the fact it doesn’t have a lot of occlusives or emollients.

  2. Hi Michelle, this product has only just now arrived where I am (?). I quite like the coverage and was hooked by the fact that it has SPF50.

The marketing is also centered around all the good skincare ingredients, but as I was watching your sunscreen vids, they got me wondering – if my separate daily SPF50 protection which (goes on first) is creating a wonderful barrier as it should, are the good things in this foundation even going to penetrate my skin?

If not, then we should all save on foundation and invest our $ in good skincare products to go underneath, am I right?

Thanks for the great and fun posts! Looking forward to learing more from you!

    • Yep you’re right! They won’t be able to effectively go into your skin – it’s more of a product for night use or if you’re not getting much sun exposure at all, or if you just like the texture.
