Today’s Artsy Wednesday theme is Matte and Glossy Combined. This is what I did:
The base is Ciate Paparazzi, another English polish that ilexica sent me. On its own it’s a deliciously vampy blood red translucent creme that looks like a blood bag, but when I matted it with Rimmel Lycra Pro Mattifying Topcoat, it looked like chocolate… yum! I stamped over it with a variety of BM and Mash patterns with a regular topcoat. It was subtle but funky – I think if I freehanded instead, it’d be a bit easier to see.
What would you have done with this theme? Let me know! 🙂
More matte and glossy:
Sadly Holly from Hooked!, one of the original Artsy Wednesday members, will be leaving us to concentrate on her studies. So we should have a new member soon! 🙂
it looks like that matte top coat has totally changed the look of the polish!! fab design! i like this lots xxx
Oh, this looks so great, very subtle and elegant, I agree with Catrine, it’s like the color changed completely….
What a great idea. I’d probably just dot regular top coat over matte surface and vice versa. I love what you did. Kinda reminds me of Nightcrawler’s face.
I wanted to try that but i was worried about how well the glossy finish would stay on my nails since i find that when i stamp my nails and don’t apply a top coat they don’t ten to stay > <
What an interesting red! It looks almost black, except around the edges. I thought you had layered it or something…
It looks so chic, love it!
I like that! very subtle! I’m going to try that next.
matte / glossy look is soooo awesome!
O I really like the way this looks.
This is AWESOME! I love everything about it! Perfect execution
I love this kind of nailart!

I love all the different designs, I can never get matte stamping to work 🙁
i love this look! looks the best with black 🙂
This is gorgeous! Blood in a bag yum I like description I think I need this polish!
I love this! I’ve done matte + glossy before, but never over black. Great combo.
I love this so much! Beautiful job.
love this!!!!
Can you see if your regular topcoat works for stamping over the Barry M Chameleons? I tried but I think mine was too fast drying to stamp with. x
Looks beautiful :]
